MK and new beginnings

For those of you that didn't know her well, MK stands for Mary Kay Clancy Scavone...my Mother!  She died 10 years ago from Colon Cancer.  She was the most gracious, warm, fun-loving woman I have ever known.  Her eyes were sparkly blue and her cheeks were pink and she always had lipstick on her teeth.

My Mother had a fascination for Hats.  She would buy them everywhere and we even had an entire wall at our house that was covered in hats...people would come over and barrow a hat for a party or a costume.  I always thought it was so strange, now I wish I had a Hat wall!  My mom also was a master mosaicer.  She made mirrors and magnets, tables and frames.  She broke cups, plates, vases, candle sticks and god knows what else.  She used to start Mosaicing at like 7 or 8 at night and be up until 2-3am...She was a master mosaicer!
I am learning to be one.
Just beginning.

SKI COLORADO

Last weekend we went skiing at Sunlight Mountain in Glenwood Springs, CO. with some friends.  It was Angelo's first time on the slopes, he went to ski school(something I remember very clearly) and he learned how to make a pizza... with his skiis that is!  He made a new friend, had hot chocolate, ate loads of skittles and rode the chair lift!  I am sooo proud of my little boy...

The Fifth Year

I am loving THE FIFTH YEAR!
Angelo has been 5 for alittle over 2 months now and things are a changin...  and I mean in a good way!  There's a new feel to the fifth year, a maturity...a curiosity...a sweetness.
Not that Angelo was anything but great for any of his other years, but I am serious when I say that the fifth year is different.  Sooo included are some examples of what I mean
He doesn't wear a pull up at night anymore... but Man.... he is challenged with AIMING in the toilet.  Hope that doesn't last forever!!!
He will actually sit with me and read a book or play a game quietly
Those of you with boys know what I mean!
He's interested in coloring or painting pictures mostly of large Tornado's (not sure why)!
He started Sports...he plays indoor soccer now.  I however have never played soccer, clearly because I put his shin guards on the outside of the sock....WHAT????  Until someone told me that they most definitely go under the sock and that was probably why they were backwards by the end of practice the first day!  oops...  did I mention I did not play sports as a child...  poor little Angelo...for the rest of his life I will probably be embarrassing him in ways I can not even imagine.  I'm sorry Ang. but Mommy can help you organize your closet to perfection or do a Dr.Phil impression!!!!
He helps me cook and sets the table
(OK honestly he will only do it for money) ha h ah ahah .
He brings me the most joy I have ever known.  Thank you Angelo for Five amazing years...

Coloring a picture for Grandma Helen

BE MINE

Sooo I'm wondering what all my mom friends do for their kids on Valentine's Day?  My mom used to leave us Valentine's on the kitchen table for us to get at breakfast, little things like stickers, a cute heart box, something red and most definitely purchased for TjMaxx and always always socks!!!  I want to do something little for Angelo but I don't want to turn it into another holiday for toys.  Maybe I should do some crafts with him but honestly nothing comes to mind...I mean he's 5 and he likes Star Wars, Soccer, playing Wii and making LARGE messes.  I on the other hand am not 5 and tend to run on the more neurotic side.  WAIT, I just googled Neurotic...and saw words highlighted like: distress-anxiety-delusions-illness!!!  OK, so I used the wrong word, what I mean is that I like order, directions...clean, beautiful areas.  Ok, so it is an illness.  I guess the first step is admitting it, so oooo  I'm ahead of the GAME!   Still not sure what to do for Angelo for Valentine's Day but I'm thinking I will step out of my comfort Zone.   I'm thinking glue...scissors....GLITTER???(maybe)... and wine!!  I welcome your ideas
